-When and why did maggie fine jewerly born?
I launched MAGGIE fine jewelry May, 2013. For me, jewelry making started
when I was a kid, at first I was really into braiding and macramé. That developed into doing intricate beading, crafting diamond patterned bib necklaces of tiny seed beads, etc. I remember my sister taking me to a bead store when I was 10 that sold amazing pieces from around the world, old and new, that inspired me to make cooler things than what I could find anywhere else.
When I went to college, I made sure to pick a school with metalsmithing and jewelry making. Once I started playing with metal and what it can do there was no turning back. So, it was only a matter of time before I launched my creations to the world.

-Can you remember the first supplement you sold?who?
As soon as I started showing my jewelry I became a barterer, so I think my first sale was trading with a friend.

-Tell me some details about maggie jewelry history
While in college I discovered I loved all the metalsmithing processes, but particularly forming (where you take a flat sheet of metal and using stakes, hammers, etc., create any shape you want), and enameling. My favorite was raising a bowl, which takes several rounds of heating and hammering the sheet of metal into a vessel of your desired design. After college I did various things, from making copper lanterns to large-scale manufacturing from my studio with my former business making jewelry for another designer. All the while tinkering away with my collection, experimenting to see what new effects I could get and making the ideas in my head become a reality.
Having always been concerned about the environment my entire life, it’s been important for me to be conscience of the materials, tools and supplies I use in studio. Majority of my metal is recycled, I use domestically-grown natural, unbleached linen, buy high-quality (USA and Europe) tools so that they last longer, use natural alternatives to harsher chemicals, etc.

-What does maggie jewelry in your life?
Honestly, as cheesy as it sounds, I don’t know what life would be like without it since I’ve been at it for so long. I do know that at the end of the day I’m content, I get to do what I love, I feel very lucky. It’s such a lovely reward to see the end product of your work, to steadily work on something so it grows more fabulous every day. From turning each individual piece from prototype to final product to my business as a whole, building my line is a dream come true. Plus, I get to wear jewelry I love!

-One dream?
As well as wanting to be in stores across the globe, I want to have my own storefront/studio combo. I already have the design of the shop in my head, and it will smell of my candles made with therapeutic-grade essential oils.
-Which is the best selling complement?
The silver Dainty Hammered ring is a classic.

-For next season, gold or silver?
Spring and Summer are always sprinkled with bits of gold, but also I’m going to be wearing my new colors of the Hammered Enamel ring in silver J.

-What makes your complements special and different from the rest?
Having had started jewelry-making to create pieces I’ve never seen, I better forever be making collections the world has yet to lay eyes on, lol! I always want things to be sleek and simple/uncluttered, yet fun and intriguing.
At the MAGGIE studio we make sure to spend the time each piece needs to be just how we want them, it’s a labor of love that shows in everything that goes out the door. We also combine a variety of techniques to create our aesthetic, which most shops can’t compete with -especially those where the products are mass-produced overseas. I’ve found making everything by hand ends up looking more personal, somehow, warmer and cozier. Plus, as amazing as they are, machines just can’t get the same effect we can at the bench. We do lots of research so we’re always in the know about new technologies and techniques that could be of use as well as a strong respect of traditional methods that combine in our procedures. Therefore, we’re always working on innovative ways to create new effects and styles, all with adhering to high quality standards seen in fine jewelry.

-Next target?
I want to continue getting exposure in Europe as well as getting seen in Asia. I love all of the handmade products I’m seeing in those continents.

-What do you feel when you see people with your creations?

That’s the best. Seeing people looking awesome wearing my pretty things is the greatest feeling.
Thanks for all Maggie it has been a pleasure
